In one pocket, I have an iPhone X for all the usual reasons. And in the other, I often carry the Fujifilm XF10. Even though it fits in my front jeans pocket, it sports a lovely Fujinon aspherical lens and an APS-C image sensor.
I think the way to learn a new camera is to study the camera and the manual a bit and then go out and do something that is not moving that fast. I wouldn't take a new camera out on an assignment as the first thing. Too many factors are unknown and can go wrong.
How to get the best use of Lightroom and Media Pro 1 (and Photoshop) is covered in my Lightroom Survival Kit 6 (which is not about how to use the software, but how to create a workflow where the software works for you and you get to stay organized and spend as little time on the computer s possible). If you type in the discount code holiday you get 10% on my Lightroom Survival Kit 6.
If you have a corrupt SD-card the camera can't read, or simply deleted files on the SD-card you shouldn't have deleted, download Data Rescue test version from Prosoft Engineering, Inc to see how much you can restore. Their trial version allow you to preview up to 10 images or files from what it finds via the trial version, and then restore up to 10MB of data for free. If you need more than that, you'll have to pay for their software which is around $99.
Thanks to this post I retrieved my original email confirmation when back then I purchased Google's Nik collection at a discount (again thanks to a LUF post). The download link in the old email still worked, so I downloaded another copy. The file was a lot larger and had a different version number.
Capture One Pro 21 includes many terrific new tools, including Speed Edit, Dehaze, and HEIC support. But the feature I've been enjoying most is the Import Browser that makes it easy for me to decide what I want to bring into the catalog, and what to leave behind.
How Capture One Pro Handles Geotagged Images
It's not a matter of quality, only time spent. The more the software is made as a workflow tool, the faster you get done. Lightroom is excellent for batch handling, and actually few other software exist that works in batches.
Then make sure the brush icon is highlighted or press the B key. Use the bracket keys to control the size of the brush, and Shift-bracket keys to control feathering. Option-click on the area that you want to sample. Then paint over the area that you want to clone. When you're finished, tap the V key to disable the brush.
Easy Negative Scanning with Capture One Pro
You can also edit an image in Lightroom wher you only change the process to Process 2021 and then save it as a User Preset. This way, when you import new images from a SD-card you can set the import to use that preset. This way all images will be set to Process 2021.
This was sent to me by a friend in the states. It's from Scott Kelby's blog/website. They are not happy about the NIK product situation yet they feel this is a viable solution for some. It will introduce another stand alone program or plugin for LR/PS users along with a learning curve I'm sure. Scott did not touch B&W yet just color.

In soft light the contrast will be much less harsh than in bright light. Soft light is when it is overcast as in "I think it's going to rain today" or early morning or late afternoon when most of the streets are in shadows and lit up by reflections from buildings and the sky.

Capture One Pro is exceedingly good at this transition. Most of the library structure migrates, sans Smart Albums. Many of the image adjustments carry over as well. And all of the metadata, including my star ratings and IPTC were welcomed in their new home.
These days, I just pile everything into Capture One Pro, then sort things out in the app
I don't think a lot of photographers realize just how easy it is to digitize their film negatives. I'm going to show you the few basic steps that I use with Capture One Pro. My method was inspired by the excellent article, How to Convert Negatives to Positives Using Capture One by Quentin Decaillet.
They like to say in the photo store that it's all automatic and the the new improved version. But you still have to understand it.
Obviously, the white bulb on the lightmeter is much harsher on the over-exposed image than the others. It did actually loose definition and tonality. It's just not visible when the only adjustment you make is exposure.
Because the monochromes were Jpegs, I knew that I would be able to edit them quite as much as the RAW files (although they held up better than I anticipated). So I did try extra hard to get them right in the camera. I think this led to me slowing down a bit and really enjoying the experience of photographing the diversity of Pt. Reyes.
Export the images out of Photos and back into Capture One Pro
The Leica M 246 uses 12-bit DNG files. The Leica M 240 uses 14-bit, and that starts off a whole discussion and lots of speculations as to why and what if.
I checked that I had in fact applied the same changes, and I checked the exposure compensation again. Yes, there was nothing wrong, other than the basic file.
Standard vignette in Capture One Pro. For portraits like this, the shading covers part of the face, and there's no way to position the effect.
This is done by using color filters in front of the lens, as it was done in the old days. An orange filter will make orange colors brighter tone and complementary colors as blue darker.
I most locations there will be areas and sports that is hit by relatively strong light compared to what is the main subject. Those sports will be over-exposed.
One of the new features in Capture One Pro 9/2 is called Create Albums From. It's something that former Aperture users will appreciate, because it allows you to choose a group of thumbnails, right-click on them, and put those shots in an album, on the fly.
We're not going to bring all sorts of testing material when we are out and about photographing. We work mainly with intuition, and we'll know later if we were right or not, or if we got something that is of use.
There's also a "Show on map" label in the GPS box. If you click on it, you're transported to Google Maps where you can see your location, share it with others, or send it to a mobile device. You'll need an Internet connection for this to work.
I just read this article on the Petapixel blog: Photographers, Beware of Upcoming macOS Transition Issues in which Thom Hogan details a procedure to determine which apps on your computer are running 32/64 bit mode. There's been quite a bit of moaning and groaning about Google's abandonment of the NIK plugin system. With no intention to maintain or upgrade the software, the projected prospects are not good. Scott Kelby also talked all doom and gloom about the problem.
The main window is split into three parts. On the left are the black and white filters which can be shown all at the same time or divided into three preset sections and one custom. Alternatively, selecting the All option will display every filter available which is much easier to browse, albeit longer. The great thing about these preset modes is that they’re all so different that you will more than likely find an option in there to suit any kind of picture that you’ve taken.
Another Safari update – how boring. Firefox and Brave are more my standards these days. However one nugget I might like to have would be Sidecar in Catalina and here’s why.
These tutorials will be particularly helpful to former Aperture users looking for a new home, and for unhappy Lightroom photographers who want better RAW decoding and improved performance. I myself made the transition from Aperture to Capture One, and I show you how you can too.
A familiar sight around our place. Lots of bright sun this time of year clouds are rare and we are very dry.

This is also the type of software you can use to recover images you deleted whilst a big security guard breathed down your neck. You can always get files back as long as they were not overwritten.
It’s the sort of adventurous things you dream of when you acquire an exotic camera as the Leica M 246. I had the idea the Leica M 246, nicknamed “Elliott" might feel at home in Paris, so that was where I went.
The Sandisk 64GB Extreme Pro 95MB/sec offer faster startup time than the 32GB version of the same card. Go figure, but the fact is that with the 32GB card the startup takes 2-3 seconds, with the 64 GB the startup time is reduced to half.
How to Export from Capture One Pro to Your iPhone
Capture One is a software made by the medium format camera producer Phase One, made to handle their own files just like Hasselblad made Phocus to handle theirs. The difference is that Capture One for several years has been able to handle Leica files (and other brands). Personally I don't like the over-sharpening and other effects Capture One adds. I could probably change the settings, but I'm so used to Lightroom I don't feel the need to try. But if you are to try an alternative to Lightroom, Capture One would be my recommendation.
This is the moment I've been waiting for. I had been sitting on hundreds of RAW files from my Iceland test of the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II, and I wanted to see how those images really looked.
The trick is to long-click on the new layer icon (+) until a popup menu is revealed displaying: New Layer, New Clone Layer, New Healing Layer. Choose New Clone Layer, and now when you select the Brush, it will transform into a cloning tool that works pretty much like everyone else's.
In my closet I have a wooden medium format camera I built when I was a teenager. A relic of a different age in photography, an age where cameras were crafted by hand and where the photographer worked through stills of frozen moments so zealously you could hear the clicking of the weekdays changing.
One of the biggest distractions for be was the ugly leaf just to the right of the grapes. In the old days, that would have guaranteed a trip to Photoshop. But the cloning and healing tools have improved a lot in Capture One. So I stayed home and addressed the issue there.
For the one new to Leica who would like not to get the most expensive camera (which currently is the Leica M Monochrom Typ 246), both the Leica M8 and the Leica M9 offers an alternative. They are both available for decent prices second-hand. I have written about black & white editing in the article "Black & white photography with the Leica M9" on Page 16.

There are the types of photographers who will travel to the top of Month Blanc to photograph snow landscapes with the sky as a backdrop. Others will travel to Doha to photograph the desert by night, lit only by moonlight.
In Capture One Pro, start with a RAW file. By doing so, the original image will stay protected
In the image below you can see how the highlights in front of the man on the bench have absolutely no information in them. In the image to the right I have turned the exposure all the way down and increased Recovery all the way it can. The over-exposed white in such an image will never ever become anything other than white.
For a while I thought I was living in a vacuum. I come from a long history of darkroom experience, and I totally agree that using control points is love dodging and burning - but on steroids. I remember the photo hoops I had to jump through in the DR to create different grades of contrast in one print. With control points it's a piece of cake. One of my DR heros was Gene Smith who used potassium ferocyanide to bleach tiny highlight areas. No problem and no poison with control points.
So what's my conclusion after this artistic experiment? I think I'm going to use this technique more often. I really don't have anything to lose with RAW+Jpeg, and I felt that my concentration was improved while shooting. Not to mention that I really like some of the images.
The recent winner of the I-SHOT-IT photo competition is a good example of incorrect exposure that works. A correct exposure would have made the faces correct tones and the rest of the image would follow in that.
The Keystone correction tool can be found in the Capture One's Lens Correction tab, and it's definitely worth a look. It makes it easy to straighten both vertical and horizontal converging lines - the types of distortion that we often encounter when photographing buildings from ground level.
Reasons Why I Use Capture One for My Pro Work
Top Tip: Install the M2 SSD PCIe card in the 4th slot for best performance! Keep the 2nd slot free otherwise you slow your video card down to 8x from 16x. The 3rd slot I recommend for the USB 3/0 card.
There are a variety of options in the brushing tool itself that allow you to control the appearance of the mask. And since all of this work is created on a layer, you can turn it off and on by simply unchecking its box in the Adjustments panel.
This is going to be a wonderful combination, both with the E-M10 Mark II and the PEN-F. I also can't wait to see some shots from the Sony cameras that were added to the list.
A few of our photographers also went this route and created very artistic images. Others stuck with RAW and converted to B&W in post. But almost everyone shared a stunning monochrome or two during our class presentation at the end of the workshop.
This highlight, of course, is bringing the Fujifilm GFX 50S into the mix. But a dozen Fujifilm cameras and another half dozen lenses were included as well. Among them was my humble, but loved, Fujifilm XF10 compact with APS-C sensor. I was dying to seeing how its RAW files were decoded with Capture One Pro.
I don't know what to learn from this, except that it obviously throw the DNG file off in some way that makes it unpredictable what it will look like. The middle-gray for example is 20% darker (but stayed the same mid-tone in the other three photos).
To gripe on about Apple for a moment, it seems very clear this company has set its focus on other things and other types of consumers. Noting that the prehistoric Aperture will not longer load up later this year. Its final demise will most likely happen with Catalina Apple’s annual OS update in the autumn.
The image editing tools in Capture One Pro are excellent. But there are times when I need to clone an area or use content aware, which is a strength of the venerable editing app. Fortunately, the two programs play well together, and here's how it works.

Now all you have to do is go to File > Export Images > Variants, then set the parameters and click Export 1 Variant. Your B&W photo will be ready to share.
A cameras lightmeter expect that the mix of tones in any subject makes up a middle-grey tone, and that is the trouble for most in getting the exposure correct: If you are in a snow landscape, you have to adjust the exposure so it looks white. Or if it is dark, you have to adjust the exposure so it looks dark. Else the camera will make it all look grey.

The question is can it blend and run Catalina macOS? Firstly some much needed hardware upgrades.

The wireless SD cards will work in the Leica M 246. The plastic piece of the bottom plate of the Leica M 246 is there exactly to make it possible for a WiFi card to reach the network through the metal bottom plate.
Along with the two filters in the Select edition, there are an additional seven filters for the top of the range Complete edition. Many of the filters are designed to simulate film effects, which appears to be a running trend through the whole program. New filters exclusive to the Complete edition include Cross balance, Film effects, Glamour glow, High key, Low key, Polaroid transfer and Tonal contrast. Most of these are self explanatory although the Polaroid transfer mode emulates a specialist technique that involves pulling apart a half processed Polaroid film which can then be transferred onto any other surface. The result is a torn edged, low saturation, low contrast image with colours also shifting.
When I'm finished with the enhancement, I also send an exported Luminar version back to Capture One Pro
At this point, I expected Capture One to put the new album inside the project I was working in. But instead, it places it at root level. So there's one more step of dragging the new album into the project. Not a big deal, but I think we should have the option to put the new album in its parent project.
Let's re-examine the photo from above, the slightly boring and unpleasing one. That one actually have a lot of bright tones in it to begin with, even it is underexposed to begin with so nothing is 100% white.
Just as it is the case for those who went from Leica M9 to Leica M 240. Some kept their Leica M9 or Leica M9-P as "backup", just to realize it's not a backup camera but a different and slower camera. If you are keeping your Leica M Monochrom as a backup, you are most likely in for the same discovery. It's a different camera and not a backup.
Create a folder of images that you can use for your test library. I recommend a combination of RAW files and Jpegs from a variety of scenes. Make this a completely differentfolder in your Pictures directory so that it doesn't get confused with the source material for other apps.
And I can do just about anything else I want with the Capture One Pro catalog structure
Not only does this tool work well, it's not difficult to figure it out. And just like everything else in Capture One Pro, it's non-destructive. So you can go back at any time to readjust the picture. And by using it, you can correct an everyday snapshot (such as the iPhone shot below) into a pretty nice photograph.

Like the Leica M 240, the Leica M 246 will be an in-between camera. Between the revolution of the first full-frame Leica M9 digital rangefinder and the future Leica M digital camera that will be integrating technology intelligently into the traditional Leica.
But in comparison to my standard SATA SSD which could only get to a read speed of about 240 Mb/s, this seems to be an incredible upgrade. All this for just about 100 notes in Euros.
I tend to leave a lot of space in my images and don't crop close. An art director or editor can always crop tighter if they like. Despite all the space in this photograph, the center of focus is her face, so her skin has to have the right tone (Zone VII). The rest of the photo is an atmosphere and all I look at is vibrance and sparkle. The more out of focus the background is, the less important the tonality of it is. I prefer if it is exploding in light, as if there was a Zone XII at play.
They prepackage a lot of stuff, like film simulations. I assume most of that is code based, but in Analog Efx I suspect they have some sort of files for wet plates and other effects, but maybe not.
Aside from that disappointment, what I really like about this system is that when I'm done with the shoot, I'm done. I've totally eliminated the post production step. I simply output my selects, upload them to TheFilmCameraShop, and I'm finished. I've just improved my efficiency for creating new catalog pages.
NIK plugins work fine on my iMac 27" 5k running the latest public beta of Sierra. However, I uninstalled them since I don't use plugins since switching from Lightroom CC to Capture One Pro about 18 months ago.
Looking back at the Leica Digilux 2 from 2004, it was actually a Leica-driven digital camera that made use of much Leica philosophy, and at the same time integrated the electronic technology (based on the knowledge in panasonic) into a very well-working concept. The Leica Digilux 2 is still a sought-after camera these days. The perhaps first "vintage digital camera" in the history of digital cameras. Which other digital cameras are having an active life after 11 years?
Raw Converter Pro v.1.1.1
From left the non-SDHC 2 GB 15MB/sec card for the Leica Digilux 2 and DMR (digital back for R9). The wireless Eye-Fi card (orange) that will work in the Leica M 240. And then the four cards to the right will all work fine in the Leica M 246. But the 95/MB sec card to the right (gold green) is the one I would recommend, but as 64GB (which has twice as fast startup-time for the Leica M 246 and M 240 as the 32GB).
Switching to tethered with Capture One Pro was the icing on the cake
Later this month, my new video training titled, Capture One Pro Essential Training will be live on lynda.com. Keep your eyes peeled for my announcement. More than 100 movies that show you the easiest way to master your library, edit files, and output them in a variety of ways.
But mainly it is the light that determines if a photo will be great, alive and sparkling or not. It is first and foremost the photographers ability to find the light, and second to have a lens and a sensor that can capture that light.
Among its many processing skills, Capture One Pro is an excellent B&W converter. And thanks to its built-in presets, you can create a beautiful monochrome in just 3 steps.
Once you've applied the preset, fine tune the image using the other tools in the B&W panel. I like the B&W sliders and Clarity. Exposure and Levels are usually helpful too.
Silver Calculator Computes Silver, Sterling and Platinum to market price in Kilos, Oz, Dwt, grams and grains. Saves all calculations to file and will print. A Must For All Jewelry Professionals, Consumers, Pawnbrokers, Jewelers, Refineries.
Simply put always to live like red-haired person who cannot stand sunshine, and keep the camera 1/3 under exposure. Not 1 stop or 2 stop, just slightly under-exposed.
First you have to take a picture of your negative and save it as a RAW file. I have a simple setup where I use a macro lens on my Olympus OM-D to photograph a negative on a lightbox. I use a large skylight filter to keep the neg flat while I shoot it. Works great.
The correction is an improvement, but not exactly what I want. I could continue to fine tune with the Kelvin and Tint sliders in the White Balance tool if I wanted.
How to Apply a Metadata Preset in Capture One Pro
You need to turn on "Focus Check" under the AF-MF menu. Once you do this it will behave this way.
It is worth to take a note that SanDisk continuously rename their cards so that what is now "Pro Extreme" will be "Extreme" in the future, and even further into the future just a grey unsexy looking card called "Ultra". The speed given on the card is what matters as the Pro Extreme name (that sounds so reassuring) written in gold on the card is simply the name for the currently fastest cards.
One of the most flexible tools in Capture One Pro is User Styles. I think they're also off the radar for many users. That's too bad because this functionality allows photographers to save a combination of settings and apply them to images as necessary.
I'm arriving at a point where there are types of weather and light where I just won't take the Leica M 246 out. It's becoming like a film that is good for a few type of things.
Additionally from the last time I wrote about the Mac Pro upgrade I had also replaced the GPU – the graphic card. I had wished to go for the Nvidia card however Apple and Nvidia boys aren’t really on speaking terms at the moment. So drivers and updates seems to be omitted or unavailable from macOS’s Mojave.
The new Jpeg or Tiff will be returned to your Capture One Pro library
There will be similar colored surfaces in the shadow and the sun that are completely different in a grey scale. It's not a color you photograph, it's the reflection of light.
As I became more familiar with Capture One Pro, however, I learned that I might not be giving up all that much after all, especially for Black & White photography. Two reasons for that: 1) The Black & White converter image adjustment, and 2) Styles presets.

I still have my Aperture archives as well. It's just disk space, and that seems like a cheap enough insurance policy in case something goes wrong. Aperture and I had a wonderful relationship. But for now, Capture One Pro is looking after my archives.
I feel like I'm more productive in an organized environment, and the tools in Capture One Pro make that easy
Update 01. March 2021: After the mainboard had an issue with the fan speed control, I changed the wiring that the fan was running all time at full speed. However, the computer still kept shutting down automatically after a certain time in operation. I tried hard to find a solution but ended up in buying an old MacMini 2/3 GhZ i7 from 2021. I exchanged the RAM and HD from the Hackintosh into the MacMini. It took me some time to get everything from the old Hackintosh up and running on the “new” Mac Mini. But finally I made it and so far I’m happy with the performance.

The tools for catalog management include projects, albums, groups (the equivalent of folders in Aperture), and everything else that I need to slice and dice a shoot. Plus, I can also manage content on my hard drives right there in the Capture One interface.

You have to take the leica M 246 out. You have to make some interesting pictures and not just test photos of your desktop or backyard. It's a better learning experience doing something where you have time to stop, study the menu and try different settings. Which you don't have if you are doing a commissioned portrait, shooting a wedding or a concert.

Yes, catalogs can only be shared if they are locked first. Once locked, others can view all of the images and download the ones they need.
My phobia of color wheels began back in the original Final Cut days. I would look at them, then devise any other method to make the correction.
For my catalog, this is usually a year, such as 2021. Moving forward, I keep my images in Projects, which look like little file boxes.
You can use styles to create "your look" for images, apply specific adjustments to portraits and landscapes, and even save them as metadata boilerplates. Take a look at this short movie for an overview on how styles work.
If you didn't know the name of the place where you took the shot, you can copy it from Google Maps, return to the Metadata tab in Capture One Pro, and add the info to the IPTC location fields. It's not quite as seamless as Photos for OS X or Lightroom, but it does work well.
Photography is both my hobby and a substantial revenue stream. I once kept both worlds in the same application (Aperture), but over the last couple years, I've separated my personal work from what I shoot for hire.
I was surprised at how often I liked the monochrome better. Yes, I had anticipated that some of the landscape scenes would look great in B&W, but I was delighted that many of the wildlife images looked great too.
I have tested Capture One Pro 20 with RAW files from Fujifilm, Olympus, Nikon, Panasonic, and Pentax, and my feeling is that it's once of the best image processors that I've ever used. I know that you've likely heard this from others as well, but maybe you just haven't had time to try it for yourself.
Apart from this, the rules for the Leica M 246 seem to be that you shouldn't stretch the tonality very much. Stay within a limited number of Zones, preferably from Zone I to VII and have just a few sparkles and defined lines in Zone IX.
Color Efex Pro Complete
Ansel Adams worked out the Zone System in the 1940's with Fred Archer. It may look as simply a grey scale (and it is) but it's the use that has troubled many.
I'm glad to finally have this function in Capture One Pro
I love the RAW editing tools in Capture One Pro. But there are times when I want to tap the magic of Luminar and its extensive set of filters. And I don't want to compromise my digital asset management system to do so. As a result, I needed to figure out how to get these two kids to play together. And that's what I'm going to show you right now.
The good news is, that you don't have to give up pro level image management to enjoy iCloud connectivity. Set up your export folder today, and get those images onto your iOS devices.
Once you process the shoot, be sure to share a gallery with a variety of poses with your subject. Chances are good that the version they like will differ from your favorite.
Powerful Auto Adjustments in Capture One Pro
Spot meter = A light meter that measures a small spot of reflections from a surface. For example a SEI spot meter (Salford Electric Instruments) or Pentax one-degree spot meter. Many digital cameas has a built-in spot meter that measures just a spot of 1 to 3 degrees in the center fo the frame.
Even you want the photographs to work, it's actually not easy to edit something that isn't right to begin with. So the next batch of images will be correctly exposed for the most part and you can start getting an idea of what you can do with them in Lightroom.
The photo basically has only highlight in the outlines while the majority of tones are in Zone 0 to Zone VII. In editing the image you can see I put down the exposure of the photo with 1/10th stop and then lifted the shadows, contrast and grey tones. Overall the darker tones are made slightly darker, while the bright end of the scale is made brighter.
That subtle contrast enhancement that's in the Capture One secret sauce really played out nicely with my older photos. My cropping carried over as well.
Smooth transition from Aperture to Capture One Pro
Ansel Adams developed the Zone System to understand light for himself, but also as a fundament for teaching the light, exposure and making the final photograph. How will it look if you do the usual, and what will it look like if you manipulate it. But most interstingly; how do you work with light, cameras and photographic materials to achieve the look you envision.
Capture One Pro Essential Training Now Available
I'm well aware of that, and have something well in mind. But I'll squeeze every last drop out of NIK.
Stunning: E-M1 Mark II RAWs in Capture One Pro
For the Leica M9, Leica M9-P, Leica M-E and Leica M Monochrom the SanDisk 16GB and 32GB with writing speed of 30MB/sec and 45MB/sec will be fine. There is no reason to use faster card in those cameras. On the contrary a more advanced/newer/faster card may just complicate matters. You are trying to get the best, but stay simple with what works.
I can always export the updated version into Capture One Pro for management with the others
To see the Before and After, hold down the Option/Alt key and click on the Reset arrow in the Color Balance panel. That will show you the image without your adjustments. Let go of the mouse, and your adjustments will appear again.
In reality, all photography is damaged by the high contrast of sunshine. At lest in the sense that your ability to take pictures that represent how things look is impossible. No camera can capture highlight sand shadows at the same time and record the details the human eye sees in highlight and shadows.
The vignette tool in Capture One Pro left plenty to be desired
Your contact information will be added to the images as they are imported. Plus, this setting is sticky, so it should remain enforce for your next import too. There's no better time to add metadata than at the very beginning of the workflow.
For those of you new to this application, I have a Quick Start chapter that gets you up and running in less than 20 minutes. Yes, that's the entire workflow, start to finish, in less than half an hour.
XMP = (Extensible Metadata Platform), an ISO standard for the creation, processing and interchange of metadata for all kinds of resources. Usually when I refer to it, it is archiving the keywords, editings settings, camera brand, aperture speed, GPS data and any other metadata for an image, into the XMP file that is part of a DNG file (digital negative). In Lightroom and other editing tools it is important to make sure the data is saved to the file so they don't stay only in a software or catalog. When the metadata is inside the image file (in the XMP), it can be indexed, searched for and is also imported and shown as part of the iamge info whenever the image file is imported in another software. Where should you keep the info about a photograph?
It's a logan in my family, "Charge all devices". It means that you charge everything when you go to sleep (and/or come in the door at home or in a hotel room).
Wondershare DVD Copy Pro for Mac is a best DVD Copy software with D9 to D5 compression, it can copy DVD, ISO, Video_TS, dvdmedia to DVD, ISO, Video_TS, dvdmedia on mac. Most importantly, it support to copy your dvd movies to portable devices.
Here is an idea of what I am talking about. This is the above photo as shot, and as edited. The histogram gives an idea how the tonality is spread over the scale, as well as how much an area of the image is which tones.
You could say that he built up a conceptual understanding of how different materials of different colors and reflective surface would look in black and white at different times of day (or different light conditions). He also realized that a tone changes for the human eye depending on it's size and in which context of other tones it is seen.

Another way I use this functionality is to add my name to the file name itself when I deliver images to a client. Even though my copyright info is in the metadata, I've discovered that many PR folks don't dig very deeply when using my photographs. Having my name in the file name increases the odds of a photo credit in the caption.
Thanks @Martin Wynne and @bcaslis: I got it to work. I double check your suggested setting and it behaved as I was hoping. I also checked the position of the focus mode switch and found that I could sometimes get it "caught" between he "M" and "C" setting and wonder if that could have been part of my unpredictable behavior.
Silver in Stall v.1.5
Adobe Lightroom is basically a program to convert the raw data from the camera sensor into an image. The program pretend to give a lot more features, but ultimately - to keep your life simple - you primarily use Lightroom to translate digital raw data into pictures.
With the SanDisk 64GB 95MB/sec card the wake up time for Leica M 246 is 1-2 seconds. With other cards (including the 32GB version of the SanDisk 95MB/sec card) the wake up time can be 3 seconds or slower.
From Aperture to Capture One Pro
Likewise you will see white and realize that the color white is not necessarily the most bright in the surroundings. There will be metallic reflections from the tea spoon, windows, edges of cars and so forth that will be more white than the actual white surfaces.
If you don't have Capture One Pro yet, you can download the 30-day free trial (Mac/Win). No credit card is required, and it's a fully functioning version.
And in addition to the styles you create, you can purchase styles to apply a variety of effects and film emulations to your photographs. Once you enable this secret weapon to your workflow, you'll have a whole new appreciation for the power of Capture One Pro.
Capture One Pro is quite versatile in this area. There are two distinct ways to export images from your catalog. The first is the actual Export command (File > Export Images), and the second is using the Output tab with its Process Recipes. Take a look at this video for a quick overview of each method.
Recently, David Grover, business support for Phase One, and myself got together for a conversation about moving from Aperture to Capture One Pro. This falls into line with my thinking that C1 is the logical transition from Aperture for professional and demanding enthusiast photographers.
Technically speaking you can say the image is underexposed. But it has to be, else it wouldn't be the image it is.
Below structure, there are two smaller sliders next to each other which protect the tonality of the image, so it’s no surprise that they’re called tonality protection. With these, you can lose or retain shadow and highlight detail although only once you’ve changed the sliders above. Below the first tab there are four more tabs. The second in the line is the selective adjustment tab which uses the U-Point technology to add localised points that you can make adjustments to.
Catalog Collections - Controlled by the application using pre-defined filters such as All Images and Recent Imports. This is where your pictures enter the database when imported from a memory card.
I am talking about the difference you can imagine between how a plastic lens cannot separate light rays and will come up with a blurry image, versus a excellent piece of optics. When you have looked through a good binocular you will know exactly what I am talking about. The experience of seeing clearer through a piece of glass than what your eye can see.
The perfect weather for photography is when it looks grey and dull. The cameras limited dynamic range (compared to the eye) will make the dull grey weather look more contrasty than you see it with your eyes.
Legends: The Silver Knife v.1.1.1
This liberates me in the sense that I can talk freely about the Leica M 246. I am happy I bought it, and I know I have made some pictures that made it worth it, and that some of them I only made because the excitement over the new camera got me out of bed early so I could make those photos.
At the top are Groups, which is Capture One terminology for what we typically call folders. I create my top level Group by navigating to User Collections, then clicking on the + icon.
The Clarity and Structure tools in Capture One Pro allow you to adjust both fine and coarse detail in your images. There are different algorithms to choose from, so you can use "Natural" for portraits and "Neutral" for objects. And because the sliders are centered positioned, you can both increase and decrease the effect, depending on your subject.
So I recommend that you update both the macOS and Capture One Pro at your earliest convenience
The speed of the shoot really picks up at this point. Take a picture, adjustments applied, review it, take the next picture.
After months or research, testing, and practice, my 5+ hour video training Capture One Pro Essential Training is now available. Here's a taste of what's in store for you.
Well not so easy on a Hackintosh, I still haven’t found anything yet. Some resources to develop your own if you like! It’s kinda non essential but fun to do.
The Noctilux allow me to dream and give a damn about the tonality of the blown out areas. With a Noctilux anything behind the subject becomes part of a bokeh, and the blown-out parts becomes sparkles.
PhotoStage Pro Edition for Mac v.7.69
When I enter a room or see something at a distance that might be an image, I will slightly touch the shutter release. This wakes up the camera so it is ready when I need it.
For different reasons the SD-card can go slow, for example when used in other cameras or formatted in other cameras or on other computers. The way to get the SD-card back to top speed is to download the free SDFormatter for Mac or SDFormatter for Windows and format the card.
Leica M 246 Leica M-P 240
The Color Picker Pro V3 is more than a Flash color picker; it is a collection of color pickers, a component that you can use to create almost any possible flash color picker, easy, advanced or very advanced. The Color Picker Pro V3 is simply the best.
The key for me was their making layers just another function of the toolset. If I want to work on a particular area, such as a sky or foreground, but I'm not sure how successful I will be, I create a layer.
If you are brand-new to digital photography, you might appreciate that any Leica camera you buy comes with a Adobe Lightroom licence. It's a program that cost $298 so that is nice extra feature.
With monochrom photography you cannot hide behind fancy colors or a breathtaking blue sky. Black and white photography can be more beautiful and seductive than any Kodachrome moment, but at other times it can be as dull as reading a bank statement.

Exif Farm Pro x64 Edition 2/3 offers you a feature rich application that is capable of viewing, creating and editing EXIF and IPTC data. Being integrated in the operating system, the program gives an access to Exif information in most of.
Silver Efex Pro 3 Software
It bothers me considerably because I've been using Silver Efex Pro 2 for over ten years to do my b/w conversions, and I've become quite adept, dare I say even dependent, on using control points to 'develop' my images. So I sat down in front of my iMac this afternoon and followed the procedure outlined in Hogan's article as to how to determine which apps are 32 or 64 bit. I was quite pleasantly surprised to find that all my NIK plugins are 64 bit/Intel compatible.
When you open the box with the Leica M 246 there is two important things to set in the menu. One thing is to change the setting from JPG to DNG (or DNG+JPG).
Thinking About Making the Transition from Aperture or Lightroom - Download my free eBook titled, Rocky Nook's Guide to Moving to Capture One Pro. I show you the steps to create a test library, then build the foundation for a smooth transition to Capture One Pro.
When a new film was introduced in the 1960’s or 1980’s it would be pretty well-defined as to how it managed each color and grey tone. The Leica M 246 comes without any such manual, only one that tells how the electronic and mechanical parts work.
The reason "very bright light" is not great for my use of the Leica M 246 is that very bright is high contrast. The Leica M 246 is not a high contrast camera.
When you press INFO when you preview an image you get the info about the image, not the camera. So the camera has to be on and no preview on the screen to get the info about the camera.
In editing the image file in Lightroom you can make up for some of that lack of contrast and sparkle by simply adding it in the way you edit. But you will never be able to beat out the details in the shadows and dark areas as the new lenses can.
I have personalized online sessions scheduled for Capture One Pro, Photos for macOS, and Luminar
In just a matter of seconds, I have removed the reflector with the Clone Stamp tool in Photoshop. Now all I have to do is go to File > Save, and the corrected picture is returned to my Capture One Pro library. Generally speaking, the roundtripped photo is placed before the original in the thumbnail view. It will also be a Tiff file compared to the RAW that you probably started with.
I've also created a dedicated Capture One Pro Training page on The Digital Story. You can follow all of the tips and techniques that I publish in one convenient place.
Nik Silver Efex Pro 2 Review
I don't apply Diffraction Correction to every image, only those where I think it's appropriate or can improve an important photograph. It does use extra processing power, so I save it for those pictures that really count.
This terrible period of not knowing which leg to stand on comes with everything new. Managing the look of images is a very personal thing. It's not like getting a new iPhone.
One of the reasons why I move my best shots to Photos after processing in Capture One Pro 12 is because of iCloud. The image is automatically backed up and propagated to all of my devices. I can use it right away for Flickr, Instagram, Facebook, etc. Plus, I have the good feeling of knowing that my favorite work is archived without any further effort on my behalf.
A side note: I highly recommend the older MacMini from 2021 since the performance is similar to the latest 2021 (also already old) models. The fact that you can’t extend the RAM in the new MacMinis is in my opinion not acceptable. The age of the latest MacMini model shows clearly that Apple focuses more on mobile devices like iPhone and iPad than the computer hardware. Yes – I also believe that Apple lost a great amount of creativity and uniqueness with the dead of Steve Jobs. Steve might have not been an easy personality but he was someone with visions who knew exactly what the people need before the people even knew that they need it.
I totally understand your dilemma. Macphun and On1 both offer solutions just not to your/our liking. Control points are the greatest thing since sliced bread and are like working in a wet darkroom burning and dodging prints.
Google would sell the lisence for control points. I'd love to see Macphun get it. Control points in Luminar?
The fps will be the same with Live View and using the EVF-2 digital viewfinder. At least in Classic mode of the light metering. The Live View itself does not slow down the frames per second. The use of Advanced Metering and Spot metering that depend on the camera reading and analyzing the Live View image to figure out the proper exposure may delay the process.
Once you've exported a project as a catalog, you can copy it to your laptop and take it on the road. If you make changes to the exported catalog, you can integrate them back into the master collection by using the Import Catalog command under the File menu.
A Metal compatible video card is an essential requirement for Mojave and Catalina. Now onto the big question concerning Catalina and the cheese grater 1/0.
This greatly limits my lust for using the Leica M 246 in sunshine and the bright thin overcast weather of the type where it is overcast but there is so much light that it's like sunshine. This is the type of overcast where you look out the window and think it is overcast, but when you get outside with the camera you realize the exposure is as if it was sunshine.
I was dying to seeing how its RAW files were decoded with Capture One Pro
The nice thing about these is that they don't disrupt the RAW workflow. My previous Aperture plugins required that I converted files to TIFFs and then roundtrip them. With Styles, everything stays in RAW and in the host application.
Color Efex Pro Complete Free
It's fairly easy to find a camera of any brand that can handle most light conditions. It's the look that is important.

Time Stamp Challenges with Capture One Pro
The startup time should be around 1/5 - 2/0 seconds. If it takes longer than that, you are using the wrong card or the card needs formatting outside the camera (see below).
I really like the unique variety in this bunch, something that I don't see often. But there were also a few distracting elements that I knew I would have to address in post. I captured the image in RAW with the Fujifilm X100V, then loaded the files into Capture One Pro 20 when I returned home. Here's what it looked like before I started working on it.
I wanted to be, but the software of the past just didn't resonate with me. Then, not too long ago, Capture One Pro introduced layers into their photo management and editing app. Everything changed for me (well, at least with layers anyway).
